Allen Finley Bio

Allen Finley completed his undergraduate and medical school training at Dalhousie University in Halifax, then his anesthesia residency at the University of Toronto. After a year of research training at Mount Sinai Hospital in Toronto, he returned to Dalhousie in 1986 as a staff anaesthetist at the IWK Hospital for Children. Dr. Finley is now Professor of Anesthesia at Dalhousie, with a cross-appointment in the Department of Psychology, and a Senior Clinical Research Scholar. He is also a staff pediatric anesthesiologist and Medical director of Pediatric Pain Management at the IWK Health Centre. His research interests include pain measurement and treatment in non-verbal, cognitively-impaired children; clinical trial of analgesic interventions; cognitive event-related potentials, pain, and attention; and perioperative anxiety and memory in young children.
